BOB ARNETT - INTERMEDIATE COACH
Coach Bob was born October 30, 1936 in Carlinville, Il, graduated from Carlinville Community High School, attended Blackburn College, graduated from Eastern Illinois University in 1963 with a Bachelor of Science Degree. He enlisted in the United Air Force in 1956 and was commissioned a First Lieutenant in 1974, retired from the Illinois Air National Guard and the United States Air Force in 1996 after serving for almost 40 years. His swimming career began in 1953 after successfully completing the American Red Cross Water Safety Course. While in the Air Force, he taught American Red Cross swimming in Aiken, South Carolina. While serving in the Illinois Air National Guard he was an assistant coach with the Springfield YMCA Swim Team. After retiring from the military, he established home-of-residence outside Hannibal, MO and began a seven-year stint as head coach for the Hannibal YMCA Hurricane Swim Team.
In 2004, Coach Bob and his wife of 45 years, Judith, established residence in Peoria and resumed coaching competitive swimming as a volunteer with the Greater Peoria Family YMCA and the DOCS Swim Club. He volunteered to coach for the Notre Dame HS Girls Swim Team for one season and then began coaching the Dunlap Dolphins Swim Team for the 2006-2007 swim season. He has one daughter, Rebecca Ann Moore, two grandchildren, Hayden (7) and Hannah (11). Hannah and Hayden both swim for the Dolphins.
